i once saw somebody in a troy aikman jersey get jumped in the parking lot of an eagles game. he had about 8-10 people kicking him on the ground, dumping beer on him, etc. i would condemn such an action were i not, in fact, an eagles fan and proud (read as: angry) philadelphian.

I do think Philly fans get a bit of a bum rap to begin with. My uncle (who is a Giants fan, so he can shut up forever) frequently cites the on-site jail cell that they carried over to the Linc from the Vet, but that shit closed down two years ago. I won't even touch the battery/Santa shit.

But what did it for me was the one-two punch of seeing the fans treat McNabb like shit and then go on to give Michael Vick a standing ovation during his debut.

Philly fans are vile but they are no worse than fans from Boston, New York, Chicago, Oakland, Miami...I've seen it.

Injure opposing team's coach with an icy snowball? New York. Put fan in a coma for wearing other team's apparel? Hello, Giants-Dodgers rivalry. Racial slurs at own players? Miami, Boston, New York, KC, and Green Bay had infamous incidents.

Sports attracts some drunken dicks. That ain't news, and that ain't limited to one city.
