Japan only hits you because he loves you.

MongoMcMichael - 2009-09-04 Context:
The television show featured a side character (who had the flaming hots for her brother) who would hijack the series every once and awhile with a comedy episode. During one such comedy episode, she turned into a cow. She was perpetually attacked by elephants, and treated three high school guys who had the hots for her as her expendable slaves. There was also a disgusting animal mascot used as a parody of animal mascots.
The movie didn't have enough time to include these characters, so at some point in the film, there's an abrupt shift to these side characters being debased and killed.
This is serious business.

Xenocide - 2009-09-04 The Nanami-is-a-cow episode was hilarious, not to mention borderline dadaist. Why does she turn into a cow? Because she mistook a cowbell for a necklace and put it on. Since only cows wear cowbells, she naturally became a cow.
Also, Nanami is a terrible terrible person and deserves all this abuse.

MongoMcMichael - 2009-09-04 I like the fact that her brother leads her on and convinces her she's adopted because he thinks step-siblings are way more sexy.

MrBuddy - 2010-10-10 No, the REEEEEAL reason Nanami is a cow is because, like all "Revolutionary Girl: Utena" episodes, none of this actually happened. Anthy, the girl with the glasses, is the victim of sexual abuse at home and bullying at school, especially by Nanami. She's fantasizing revenge by imagining Nanami is stupid enough to turn herself into a cow and too vain to take the cowbell off and turn herself back.

That's a rough way to go.
... the whole thing I guess.
