We get a lot of carpenter bees around here in the summer.
It's well known that you can throw small objects past them and they will chase them. If the object is small and light enough, they will sometimes catch it, hold it for a second then drop it.
I've been told this is an instinctive reaction, that they think they're protecting their nests from other insects.
But now, I wonder...
Are they trying to play fetch?
