"Have you voted republican for the last 20 years?"
"Yes"
"how come you're not taking responsibility for that?"

This is so utterly American. These people are attempting to somehow, in some weird hamhanded way, associate themselves with the Boston Tea Party; something they vaguely remember from their school years as something that had something to do with protesting something about money or taxes and something with freedom in it....or something.
So, therefore, their protest = TEA PARTY OF SOME SORT.
Completely, willfully ignorant of what the Boston Tea Party actually was, in every way shape and form. In fact, THAT is the question this guy should have been asking. "Do you know what the Boston Tea Party was?"

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-04
A lot of these so-called Tea Parties are just GOP astroturf:

Have any of these people seen John McCain's birth certificate? He was supposedly born on a base, but what if he wasn't? I haven't seen his birth certificate! I haven't seen any proof!
Now I have an ignorance induced headache.

halon - 2009-03-04
This isn't a blame game except when I'm blaming people!

Cena_mark - 2009-03-04
Wherever he was born, it doesn't change the fact that he's destroying the economy. The markets have continued to fall despite his actions, because Wall Street knows that his methods are going to make things worse.
This guy is perfectly willing to talk down to the stupid conservatives, but he won't show himself getting owned by the smart ones.
|
baleen - 2009-03-04 Do you believe that the birth certificate that was produced in Hawaii is fake?
And there are no smart conservatives left. My neighbor Ron worked for Ronald Reagan in the State Department. Very smart, decent man, and a champion with scotch. He voted for Obama because the Republican Party has completely fallen apart.
|
Cena_mark - 2009-03-04 I'm sure the birth certificate is real. The "birth certificate is fake" argument is just panicked, conservative, denial. I feel their pain, but you can't defeat Obama's agenda through with that nonsense.
Please tell me when Ron starts to regret his vote. I'm sure it won't take long.

CharlesSmith - 2009-03-04 Cena Mark you are the peerless king of POETV, and I mean that with no sarcasm or hyperbole.
|
SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-04 "...it doesn't change the fact that he's destroying the economy."
Thank goodness for the previous administration's frugal spending and tight regulation on risky fiscal behavior, or we'd all be sacrificing our children to Ba'al by now.
|
Urburos - 2009-03-04 It's only been a couple months. Jesus christ, let the man do what he can. I don't think you could do better.
|
Cena_mark - 2009-03-04 Steampoweredkleenex: Yeah, yeah, I know Bush spent too much. But you forget, that if the Republicans will increase the size of the government and its spending then the Democrats will do it to a much greater extent.
Urburos: I know he's just arrived, but all he's done since arrive is confirm my reasons for not voting for him.
Reagan adopted a far worse economy in 81, but he fixed it. Yet Obama when presented with a similar scenario in 09 has done the complete opposite of what Reagan did. Obama has done nothing at all to encourage business, Obama has no faith in American business, and I find that disturbing.
|
|
baleen - 2009-03-04 Nah, things will be fine.
|
|
SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-03-05 Cena Mark: Then why did deficits balloon more under Republican presidencies than Democratic ones? The GOP's plank of "less government" and "fiscal discipline" is about as grounded in reality as claiming the Tooth Fairy as a party member.
I think the Republicans just don't like what Democrats spend government money on, so they perpetuate this myth that they spend more. At least you have to admit that social spending domestically gets you a return versus spending it all on military stuff that we either never use or sell to people that we have to then shoot at later.
|
Innocent Bystander - 2009-03-05 "Obama has no faith in American business, and I find that disturbing."
Oh dude. Did you just go all Darth Vader on us?
"I find your lack of faith disturbing."
You rule, man.
|
Cena_mark - 2009-03-05 Steampowered: Bush couldn't help much of the spending that went up during his presidency. He had a war on terror on his hands.
InnocentBystander: I assure you any coincidence my words have to Darth Vader's are strictly coincidental. I am not a Star Wars nerd, or any other nerd.

zatojones - 2009-03-05 I'm pretty sure you qualify as a "wrestling nerd" which is a pretty sad kind of nerd to be

To you and me this birth certificate business is crackpot wingnuttery, but to them, it would be an act of patriotism to eliminate the usurper who has illegally claimed the White House.
|
|
|
zatojones - 2009-03-05 it's objectively crackpot wingnuttery because despite having been shown evidence that their gripe is unfounded they continue to insist that it's not. refusing to give up your wrong beliefs in the face of evidence is crackpot wingnuttery defined
|
pastorofmuppets - 2009-03-11 Then I guess it's a good thing we can look for empirical evidence to prove or disprove people's claims, and know things objectively.
