This stuff could apply to almost any religious institution, to varying degrees.

Wait... so cults are just like Christianity but with different names for things?

Severian - 2008-10-29 Enjoy, that's only the 4th question. The other questions dealt with whether one's own creed agreed with Pastor Mike's opinion of the One True Religion.
While the video doesn't specify "any" or "all," I think it implies that answering yes to any of the questions makes something a cult.

So if it's not Christianity, it's a cult. Got it.

1: That was longer than 30 seconds.
2: He never gave the correct answers.

It would probably take about 30 seconds to find out how Pastor Mike manipulates and/or ignores certain parts of Scripture to his convenience.

Nyms Lives! - 2008-10-29
Years ago when I was a teenager the youth group I was in had a couple lessons on cults. The first clue you were in a cult - "They teach you that the only meaning you have in your life comes from being a part of the group." The next set of lessons was conversion training - "OK, first off make sure they understand that their life is empty without Christ in it". The fact that they did one right after the other without their head asploding from the irony struck me even back then.

That voice... I'm half convinced Brad Neely is Pastor Mike. I was expecting any given rule to be "Does your congregation not worship at the feet of the man himself- that roiling, bright burning star of masculinity and perfection? That resplendent, golden god known to us by his mortal name, Harry Potter? Then you may be in a cult and you are definitely wasting your time; because HP stands tall above the thronging masses of common saviors, summarily dispatching them with a barely perceptible flick of his wand in accordance with some inscrutable whim- which we muggles can never aspire to understand- in his own time."

Hey, I just realized that by his standards, being a Christian is like being in a cult.
