That is such an awesome opening for a show that ended up being so disappointing. It decided to go light on the super fighting robot action and heavy on the cliche 80's cartoon action.
In the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the PS2, they inexplicably put the first episode of this show as a bonus in place of something better. I think the Gamecube version had a bunch of interviews with the creators, so the PS2 owners got a bit of a shaft in that department.

I remember this show, but never really paid attention to it. I can't remember if he got to keep the powers he absorbed in-between episodes. Or if any of the robot masters were ever actually destroyed.

Completely forgot about this show. Can science PLEASE get to the point where I can have a robotic flying-sled dog who could also some times turn into a trampoline so I could get that impossible to reach Energy Tank?
