What? No added fire/ground glass?

Uh oh, better drop another 500 bombs on civilians in response to this transgression.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-13 Guess it would depend if tires were all he threw, or if he also threw mortars and rockets.

EvilHomer - 2014-08-13 I'm just saying, your analogy is woefully ignorant., and demonstrates a problem sadly all too common with the Western pro-Palestinian movement; that is, a complete lack of perspective and an inability (refusal?) to recognize the nuances on either side of the issue This is not a question of your neighbor throwing a tire at you. This is a question of your neighbor launching rockets at you. This a question of your neighbor conducting military operations against your home, your wife, and your children for close to seventy years. This a question of your neighbor banding together with the entire neighborhood council and all of them - every last family on your block - declaring their intention to drive you into the sea, to burn your house to the ground and kill your entire family if they stay put, and why? For the simple reason that you don't go to the same church as they do.
Israel is hardly blameless; decades of Palestinian-provoked reprisals by the IDF have left a lot of bad karma on the Israeli state, just as the terrorists had planned, and really? A good case can be made that there comes a point at which tracing the roots of blame becomes futile, as on an individual level (ignoring the grand historical narratives that we would all undoubtedly agree favor the Jewish position) the radicalized inhabitants of Gaza and the West Bank have just as much right to feel victimized as the embattled Jews. It doesn't matter if my great-grandfather was an Ottoman immigrant or the twentieth-generation of his line to dwell in Hebron; if I was born there and raised there, that is my home. But you don't seem to recognize any of this complexity; instead, it seems as if, to your eyes, the situation really is just as simplistic as the propagandists try and make it out to be: evil Nazi Jews irrationally butchering people whose only crime is hucking a tire or two.

Surprised they didn't open fire on it. You have no idea if it's rigged to explode.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-08-13 That's not any old rock. That's the Iron Dome Defense rock. The US taxpayers put something like 2 billion USD into that paving stone. Let's give it some respect.

i honestly feel like this issue is so convoluted that i'm suspicious of anyone that's assured of their moral high ground. i've reached what seems like an appropriate amount of general apathy and sympathy, just about 1:1. much more seems like posturing for moral dilettantes seven thousand miles away.
thanks poetv
