We had some cats when I was a kid but they were outside cats and only 1 of them was actually completely tame. So I never witnessed any of this sort of thing. Why do cats throw up so much? Is it something they do as part of their digestive process or have these cats been eating an unnatural diet?

Syd Midnight - 2013-07-01 It's normal for them. In the wild they eat whole animals with small bones, like birds and mice, and also eat grass to form a wad to puke back up like owl pellets. Housecats also spend too much time grooming, and get hairballs which also need puked.
They just have weak stomachs, and also puke from eating too fast, or for no apparent reason. They're little barfing machines, that's why they're such picky eaters. It plays hell with their sense of cat dignity, they either flee the scene or play it cool and pretend they didn't just puke.
Completely the opposite of dogs, who happily eat whatever has been rejected, ejected, or digested by a cat, to the dismay of whomever owns both kinds of animal. Dogs are capable of dining upon any link of the food chain.
