Avengers Assemble - Trailer (2012)

Xeno? Marvel's been on the continuity bandwagon for a while, now. While the Hulk movies faltered, the others (Thor, Iron Man, Captain America) were all basically prequels to this film, and they were planned that way. You're also aware that there is such a comic as "The Avengers?" More of this movie comes from the popularity of "The Ultimates," but it's still nowhere near what you're proposing.

It's gotten so I don't care for the DC films as much because they seem so comparatively meaningless, since they'll just get rebooted by the next director anyway.

What "natural causes" kill you at age 43? A moose stampede?

I'm betting something a tad more embarrassing happened. My top three guesses would be meth overdose, autoerotic asphyxiation, or some kind of wacky "protect our bodily fluids" dietary supplement that's normally used for things like killing termites or opening clogged drains.

What powers or tech does Black Widow have, Sol? Being sexy doesn't count (since every superheroine is that, pretty much). Comic book archers and gun-bunnies need other superheroes to sort of fit in. Otherwise, they're mere weapons fetishists or homicidal maniacs.

That said, I'm looking forward to this movie for Robert Downey Jr., if nothing else. I do wish they'd kept Captain America's outfit more like the WWII version or the one from The Ultimates.

A power fantasy of being able to hurl fire and bang a hot Russian chick?

I guess if you own the network you can do what you want.

Ted Turner used blood & violence in a cartoon about environmentalism. Rupert Murdoch lies, taps phones, promotes conservative values, and uses boobs to sell papers via Newscorp. It's about the same, I suppose.

So when was the idea proposed that maybe consumers would be turned off by seeing the serfs assembling their meaningless trinkets?

I'm learning so much from this:

Never live downhill from the giant ping-pong ball factory.
Ball pit skills will come in handy someday.
While the balls can pulverize a grown man, they are unable to penetrate tall grass.
Spiked helmets will not save you.
Robot Quadrotors Perform James Bond Theme

I disagree.

Over a thousand years from now, I think this will become a tradition among the flying robots. They'll perform this every year around this date. They'll feel compelled to do it, they'll celebrate it as part of the "Death To Humans" festival, and yet they won't know why they do it.

Not "Flight of the Valkyries?"

Crap. 5-starred out of habit. That wipes out my good deed, doesn't it?

Typical Wednesday for me, I guess...

Him hosting "Have I Got News For You" was one of the best things to happen in television, ever.

I do find myself curious about where his chin ends and his beard begins. Maybe medical science will someday solve this mystery.

Since they can't actually show death in cartoons, the Kool-Aid man must have died off-camera, right?

Can you reach that thing you want? How about that other thing? Or that one? If you find something you want you can't reach, they're too short.
Why Earth Is Not Orbiting The Sun As We Are Taught

I should have included "on the internet."

Again, you're probably not going to see explosives out of this bunch so much as threats to duel you with a bat'leth or replica of a sword from Highlander.

It's the Rupert Murdoch way of upholding moral values via Page 3 girls.

It's scary how many more comments on THIS tripe have been removed or flagged as spam than the ones on even more dubious religious videos.

There's the usual religious anti-science mindset that can't deal with real-world repeatable phenomena contradicting their holy books, then there's this stuff, where people want to believe that somehow reality is part Narnia, part Sandman, and all run by cosmic steampunk machines. The latter camp seems the most vigorously angry. Maybe it's because they buy fake medieval swords at conventions.

I'm guessing parades and inaugurations need stuff to be going on in front of the crowd while you're watching the hosts wear headsets and talk to each other about how exciting the event is, and he provides it.

He's basically the foam packing peanuts of public events, providing some cushion for the stuff people might actually find entertaining.
