in happier news, there were a good couple o' days of weather matched against battle-hardened fire crews since I submitted this. i think the towns in the SCM could make it.

in less-happier news, another (heretofore quite unusual, regionally speaking) round of lightning storms are anticipated from tonight thru the next couple of days. if that's true, it could get ugly again. also, it could get ugly again just because everything's dry. California's wet century is long done.

so far, I only know of one dear-loved couple whose house is burned to the ground. nicest kids you could hope to meet. many more folks who don't have the misfortune to know me have lost theirs as well.
